Emiley Elizabeth, you are eight months old today. EIGHT MONTHS! I think we need to have a talk about you growing up so fast. This has been a month full of new things for you.
December 22nd was your first time going to the doctor for something other than a well-baby check-up. You weren't very sick, but Momma didn't like that you had an icky cough for almost two weeks, so we got you checked out. It was just some upper respiratory stuff, which you got amoxicillin for. You definitely liked taking that pink stuff three times a day for ten days. It sure helped. That's a first that we don't really care to repeat, though, so stay healthy, okay Sweet Baby.
On December 28th, you got your very first tooth. Two days later, you got another!

Child of mine, you are definitely an eater. You have tried so many new foods this month that I won't even list them. You are completely on table food now, and you have been for quite some time. Momma doesn't have to worry too much about smooshing anything. You can chew up meats and veggies and crackers and all kinds of things. There hasn't been any food we've come across so far that you will not eat. You've started feeding yourself this month. Momma has to give you extra food though, because you're not perfect at hitting your mouth.

Don't worry, Sweet Baby, you'll get better at it!
Your most favorite thing of all time right now is being held, especially by your Momma. You think playing toys is great fun by yourself. For about five minutes. Or until you see your Momma. Then playing toys is still great fun. Sitting on your Momma's lap. The only thing better than sitting on your Momma's lap, playing toys, is having your Momma tote you around all over the house. That's tons of fun. There's so much to see!
Right behind being toted around and held by Momma is being thrown in the air, hanging upside down, and doing backflips. You think you're some sort of gymnast, Sweet Baby. You just smile and giggle when you're flipping and flopping and flying. You're a wild little thing, that's for sure. A little bit of a roughneck. Your Nana thinks you're going to be climbing trees before we know it. If you take after your Momma, you'll definitely find your way up those trees.

Little lady, I don't know what you're waiting on on this crawling business.

Maybe you'll skip it. Who knows?!? You sure would prefer to stand up than to be on that belly. You're not really great at that balance thing yet, but you're getting there. Heaven knows you're a brave little soul. You like to stand at the kitchen chair and let go with one hand.

You sure do like to hear yourself sing and talk and holler. You just like to do "ahhhhhhhh. ahhhhhhhhhhh. ahhhhhhhhhh"

all the time. You're not making very many other sounds any more. (We may need to have a talk, Sweet Baby...do you know what your Momma does for a living?). Every now and then, you say /b/ and /p/, and well, you say "mmmmmmmmmmmmm"

all the time, especially when you're eating. The other day, you said "poop". What kind of potty-mouthed kids do you hang out with, anyhow? That's not a very good first word, you know?
Did we talk about eating? Yes, we did. Well, you certainly love that. You eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. It happens just like clockwork.
Sleep. You've been pretty good. I can't complain. Every now and again, you'll wake up at night and want paci, but that's no big deal. During the day, you're just a little cat-napper. At home on the weekends, you'll take 4 or 5 little 30-40 minute naps. I think at daycare, sometimes you'll take one big nap, but mostly, they're little.
You played in the snow for the first time this month. Okay, really you sat in the snow and tried your hardest to get the cat, who we call HalleCat, to come to you.

You're still in those size 3 diapers and 6-9 month clothes, 3-6 month pants. We have to roll pants and sleeves up pretty frequently, now that it's nice and cold and Momma gets bad looks if I take you out in short sleeves.
You got a new carseat this month. You're still able to use your infant carrier, for another 4 pounds or so, but you definitely like to sit upright and look out the window. This new seat is not great for sleeping, but you don't seem to mind.
As always, I'm sure there are many more amazing things that you've learned this month, but I'll wrap it up for now. We love you, Sweet Baby! Thanks for brightening our days!!
