Maybe...

...she'll be a cosmetologist.

She sure did have a lot of fun playing with my hair.

my, my, my...

Well, there I go again...it's been forever since I've updated. It's been a busy summer, to say the least. I started full time at DCH on June 7th. It is going really, really well. I like the hospital setting so much more than I ever dreamed I would have, which is probably a shock to anyone who ever went to school with me! Everyone at DCH is so great to work with. After spending a few days figuring out which doc wanted what and all that stuff, things are just going really great.
Since then, it's been VBS and playing outside and weddings and birthdays and reunions and...whew...
Lots of Emiley news too, but I'm sure I'll forget something. Tooth #3 finally popped through just 3 days shy of 13 months (top, second right). Tooth #4 (top, middle right) made an appearance about 3 or 4 days ago. Cutest little teef I've ever seen!
Emiley had been doing a lot of "spitting up". Of course, she's way too old to actually be spitting up, but it wasn't full-fledged throwing up. Just a little bit of ewwie almost every day. When she went back to the doc two weeks after her most recent ear infection, we mentioned it. Dr. Amy seemed to think maybe Em was lactose intolerant since it started happening around the time that we started giving her cow's milk. Sure enough, we stopped the milk, and the throwing up stopped. Emiley never really cared for milk anyhow. She's still okay eating milk-based things, like yogurt and cheese, but we just keep an eye on the amount she has in one day. I think the heat may have something to do with it as well, so I definitely try to watch giving her milk-based products when she's going to be out in the heat.
Emiley has always loved music, but here lately, she's really gotten into it. I got her a new keyboard at a yard sale for a dollar. She plays it practically everyday. It's one of the only things these days that she'll actually sit and play with in one spot for more than 2 minutes...probably because it doesn't actually require her to sit still...moving is a bonus!

Another thing that Em loves is playing on Momma and Daddy's bed. She just likes to crawl all over it, be tickled, jump, and play "getcha".

On June 12 (which is my momma's birthday), we went to Petersburg for my cousin Samantha's wedding to Nate. It was gorgeous. Sam was gorgeous. The flower girls (and flower dog) were precious! We went to the reception in Huntingburg for a little big, but Adam had to work early the next morn, and Em was being a bit of a wild child.
Waiting outside for the bride and groom. Em was pretty sure the bubbles were for her and right now!

We were all trying really hard to get Em to walk on her own. Of course, she didn't want anything to do with that. (We had to come back inside to wait because it was so stinkin' hot outside. Sam, next time you marry Nate, pick a cooler day...haha!)

On to the reception. Emiley waiting on some food!

One of these days, she will grow up and wonder why in the world she wanted to put her mouth on EVERYTHING!
Nana and her sweet baby on Nan's birthday!

Nelleigh decided to blow some bubbles to add a little something to the pictures.

Aww!
June 13th-17th was Vacation Bible School at Bethel. Em had a good time playing in the nursery.
Emi in her bug visor.

Nelleigh and Jake went with us to VBS. One day before we left, Em decided Nell needed to walk with her.
Em definitely knows what she wants and knows how to get it. She walked me over to the back door one evening, then once we were outside, straight to the porch to play in the water.

Sometimes Em loses her headband, so she puts it back on. I think it may be the next fad??

When it falls off, she just picks it up and puts it back on, like she knows that's where it belongs.

Em has really been into coloring and writing these days. She's in love with ink pens and would probably carry one around with her all day (if that was a safe thing for a baby). She even feels the need to "sign in" at daycare each morning and "sign out" in the evening. Daycare has a special "Children's Sing In/Out" sheet for the kids to use so they don't mess up the real one.

Emiley is wild about the computer keyboard. One day, I just decided to give her the old laptop that no longer works. It was like she had her own little office work going on.

I think every child makes this discovery eventually. It just thrills Em to "organize" our cabinet. She honestly has an obsession with taking things from one place, piling them up, then putting them back.
On Father's Dad, Em's Daddy had to work. We went to Jasper because I needed to get something from Ben Franklin. We stopped at the armory park to let Emi play for a while.

Guess who's playing in the mulch.

Emiley, you're a silly little thing! She kept peeking through the holes and looking up at me, then looking through the holes again. It must have looked pretty funny.
Emiley was not sure about this bubble thing. I don't think she realized that she wasn't going to fall onto the ground.

But once she figured out that it was safe, she kind of liked it.

After we went home so Em could get a nap, we ran into Nan and Gramps' house. It's always tons of fun there. Gramps got out the hose for Emi. I do not know how she sat there and played, because the water was from the well and it was COLD! The fun and games were over when Em slung the hose over her shoulder and the cold, cold water went down her back.

This is what Emiley got her Daddy for Father's Day. She had to try it out. She looks confused. "Music...directly into my ears...weird."
Take a look at who's wearing shoes. This is time #1 in probably 2 months that she's actually kept shoes on her feet for any length of time. Time #2 was this past weekend, and it resulted in a blister on the back of her foot. The child evidently got some tough feet from her Momma, cause she will walk through anything.

Emi, you crack me up! I do not know what I did to deserve this look, but just consider this picture payback!
I don't know if this child loves anything more than playing with sticks.
Emiley is such a happy girl when she's outside. Here lately, though, even Em is ready to come inside after being out for just a short time because it's soooo hot.
Playing hide and seek.

Emiley, who we thought would be walking by 10 months, because she has been walking with two hands forever, still is not walking on her own. And still insists on using two hands when walking. Every now and then, I will catch her standing up on her own, usually playing with something. She's also, the last couple of days, been being a little more brave, and clapping her hands while standing alone.
Emiley was helping with laundry the other day. She found a pair of my socks. She couldn't decide if she wanted to try to wear them...
...or eat them. Silly girl. At least they just came out of the dryer.
Saturday, June 26th, we went to Buffalo Trace Park in Palmyra for the Riker Reunion. Em had a good time on the playground.
Don't I have about a million pictures that look very similar to this? It's really one of her favorite things to do at the park. Hold onto something, bend down and pick up dirt/rocks/mulch/sticks, drop what she's holding, and start again.
Em was pretty impressed with the dirt and sticks that were there.
This was Em's first time on the teeter-totter. She thought it was great. This momma wore out quick though.
Don't mind the snot running down her face...I believe she's on her way to getting sick...again.
Em definitely thought she was hot stuff.
After lunch, I asked Emi to wipe her face off, which she usually does...
But, she apparently thought that her shoes needed cleaning more than her face.

Emiley participated in the baby contest at the fair. It was blasted HOT that day. She and I (as well as most of the other participants) were soaked.
Emiley didn't place, but she had a good time waving and clapping and playing.
Waving at Nan!
Emiley had fun playing with these two little girls who were sitting on either side of us though.
Em was also a really good sport, and started clapping when they were announcing the winners. It was cute.
Shhhoooooooo! Now we're all caught up, and hopefully posts won't be so few from now on!
